Paint it black: Gothic bedroom décor
Whether your tastes run more to the traditionally medieval or toward Gothic fantasy, you don’t need to be a pale-faced teenager in dark makeup and clothing to appreciate the fun of going back to the Dark Ages for inspiration.
A Gothic-inspired bedroom décor appeals to many people’s sensual side: Blacks, reds, grays and whites are the predominant colors, with rich fabrics and ornately decorated furniture and accessories.
When choosing a color scheme, try to resist the urge to overdo it with one particular shade — you may want to take the Rolling Stones’ musical suggestion and “Paint It Black,” but chances are that you will quickly tire of such unrelieved darkness.
To give your bedroom walls an authentic medieval look and feel, once you’ve applied your base color and accents, create the appearance of cracks and cobwebs by painting in a series of thin, uneven lines, using a darker tone than your base color. Go no more than a quarter of the way down the wall, and don’t go all the way to the floor. A wall that was really cracked from ceiling to floor would most likely crumble and cave in. Lines should appear darker and thicker near the ceiling, thinning out as you descend down the wall, in the same manner as a real crack would appear. Do this in all four corners of the bedroom, but make sure you keep from making the “cracks” too symmetrical in appearance.
You can also give your walls and furniture a “distressed” look by painting them in two or three contrasting dark colors then rubbing away part of the topcoat to reveal the other shades hidden beneath. A thin coat of antique whitewash over a darker color paint or patterned wallpaper can also create this effect. Vintage wallpaper can make nice accents, or you could try painting your own curlicue designs on the walls, along the baseboards and just beneath the ceiling.
When choosing furniture to go with your Gothic décor, stick to simple materials like wood and iron, but carved or etched with ornate embellishments. For example, choose intricately carved wood chests and four-poster beds, paired with richly colored linens, drapes and wall hangings.
For accessories, Gothic-inspired designs are available in every thing from vanity mirrors and clocks to jewelry boxes and letter openers. Bats, skulls, gargoyles, spiders and dragons are popular motifs. The use of mirrors can also help make your room seem larger, and balance out the darkness of the overall color scheme.
Exhaust Fan Motor Repair
The exhaust fan motor will need to be maintained. If you do not uphold the proper maintenance, then you will find that mold and mildew will be in there. This can cause it to not run correctly or at all in some cases. Ensure that you have a design in the bathroom that will allow the steam to get to the fan. An exhaust fan motor repair can be challenging, but you can do it. Mildew and mold can be harmful to your health.
Items Needed:
- putty knife
- screwdriver
First: Prepare
In order to properly prepare yourself for the task at hand, you will need to ensure that there is no electricity running to the bathroom. You need to ensure that this step is complete before you go any further. Even if you aren’t going to go straight to the motor, you need to turn off the electricity before getting involved with the exhaust fan at all.
Second: Cover
After there is no longer any power running to the room, you will take off the cover to the fan. This is done by unscrewing the screws that are holding it in place with a screwdriver. Do not loose these screws. If it is a painted over cover, then you will need to use a putty knife so that you can remove the paint at the edges and pry the cover out. This can also be done with a flat head screwdriver. Do not pull any of the drywall out with the cover.
Third: Fan
Make sure you take the time to look at the fan and figure out what might be wrong. There may be something as simple as a wire that is loose which is causing you problems. Also make sure that there is not a lot of dirt or other build up on any of the areas of the fan. This can cause it to not work.
Fourth: Pull Fan
It is now time to pull the fan out. Be certain that it is not plugged in first. This is only necessary if there was nothing wrong with the fan in the earlier step. It will take some pressure to get the fan to come out. Make sure that you have removed all the screws that are attaching it. Also make sure that you have allowed the light in the housing to be off long enough that it will be cool to the touch. This will make it easier to unscrew.
Fifth: Replace
There is a possibility that you will need to take the motor with you to a hardware or home repair store to get a new one. Make sure that you have it with you to ensure a proper replacement.

However, 2003 amendment was reinstated and that made a way for rapid explosion in overseas investment in Turkey real estate development projects.

Parker Knoll sofas, armchairs
The story of Parker Knoll began in the late 1860′s when Frederick Parker, a young furniture maker, completed his apprenticeship at a furniture factory and wanted to set up his own businesses making chairs. He created a workshop in an outbuilding on a farm and began to handcraft the finest furniture for the Victorian elite.
Parker thought that the best way to produce his fine furniture would be to gain inspiration from the old masters of furniture makings. He’d spend days searching for books in libraries and shops, specifically focusing on furniture from the 17th, 18, and 19th century. He took particular interest in textiles and the carvings on the furniture. Using the traditional skills he’d previously learnt, the inspiration he’d gained from his research and through customer demand, Parker began to create contemporary furniture for the era. His furniture was sought after by many and after hard work and determination, Parker moved from his workshop to a larger facility that could give him the necessary space to grow his business. Parker Knoll sofas, armchairs and settee’s hold a strong reputation for quality and this reputation is still strong today.
Later on in Parker’s career, the revolutionary idea of creating spring furniture was bought to his attention by the designer Willi Knoll. Parker saw great potential in the idea of tension and suspension springs that the coiled spring was the added to the seat and back of his chairs, sofa’s and settees to ensure extra comfort for the user. As the inspirations grew between Knoll and Parker, a new partnership was born and the company of Parker Knoll was founded in the 1930′s.
New Homes Guarantee
If you’re thinking of moving or purchasing your first home, a new build could be the perfect choice for you.
If you’re looking for a home that offers safety and security for the future, a new development is the way to go.
All new builds are protected by a 10-year warranty from the National House Building Council. See more at www.newbuildhomes.org.uk
This will offer you protection in case the builder goes bankrupt while building the property, leading to a failed completion, which would in other cases leave you out of pocket.
If you buy an existing property, there is no such protection and if the sale fell through, there would be no financial protection and your planned move could be set back.
The warranty also offers protection if any defects occur within two years of completion. If you have any problems with the build of your home within two years of moving, this will be covered by your warranty and you will not have to pay to have it repaired.
It will also cover you against any structural flaws that are found within the first eight years of completion. Again, if you found a major problem, this would easily be solved under this warranty.
This should provide you with some peace of mind at the start of your life in the new property.
Wood Pellets maybe the Best Solution for You if You Want to Go Natural on Your Energy Expenditure
The prices of non-renewable, fossil fuels like oil, petroleum and kerosene, are increasing with each passing day. These energy resources, once depleted or exhausted, cannot be replenished, as they were formed in the first place, after being subjected to the adequate amount of heat and pressure, far beneath the earth’s surface, for millions of years. That is why more and more people are opting to go easy on these products and are now inclined to replace them with wood pellets instead, which function as a wonderful source of thermal energy.
These firewood or brændesalg (as the Danish refer to them), are made from the byproducts of wood manufacturing processes, for instance-sawmilling, where the chief byroduct is sawdust. Commonly, these particles are compressed together under high pressure to produce wood pellets. They can also be produced from the errant twigs, branches or strips of barks left after the process of deforestation in a definite area, and then these components are made into a compact mass, resulting in the formation of wood pellets.
Wood pellets are a very reliable fuel, derived from biomass. They can go a long way in providing the requisite heat energy, while at the same time being more affordable and more easily available than the other more conventional energy resources.
There are pellet stoves, central heating furnaces and several other devices that employ wood pellets as their main heat emitting ingredient. These appliances are easy to install and use and give you your money’s worth of heat and warmth for your family.
Therefore, as the prices of oil go up a few notches and the temperature slides down by a few, get yourself some wood pellets from a local store www.wood4you.dk and be toasty warm.
Go Green with House Paints
Most of the house paints contain a variety of harmful chemicals which are potentially harmful for the environment. Some manufacturers get careless in following the government sanctioned regulation, in order to make more money. Their main concern is just to make profit by increased sales. However, it is the duty of the consumers to be wary of such companies and they must buy paints only from the trusted companies who are cautious enough and committed enough to provide environmental friendly paints.
Such harmful paints release toxic elements in the air, causing it to pollute which poses a threat for humans and animals both. The toxic elements are released from different volatile organic compounds which are used in manufacturing of paint. While you choose these environmental friendly paints, make sure the paint mentions that they are non-toxic and eco-friendly.
For additional benefits one can also opt for eco-friendly paints which are heat resistant. This way they will last longer and bear the harshness of the inevitable climatic change. These eco-friendly paints are made of low volatile organic compounds therefore safe to use; some paints are made of zero volatile compound which are the best to be used.
A general perception goes that eco-friendly paints would be more costly and that is another reason, why most of the consumers do not take them into consideration. However, that is just a myth, most of the green paints today are available at reasonable price and they also offer a wide variety of colors and textures.
You can get eco-friendly paints, polish and finishes for you outdoor walls or tiles, inside ceiling and interiors walls. The special træbeskyttelse or wood paint is also made available for taking extra care for the wooden doors, wooden floorings, wooden gate and fences. With the same variety available that too at affordable prices as of regular paints, then why not opts for eco-friendly paints and does our bit in keep our environment clean! A summerhouse makes the perfect studio for budding artists
It wouldn’t make sense to wait for the British summer to arrive before you pick up the keys to open your summerhouse of the season. The winter months shouldn’t deter you from making your summerhouse into an all year experience. If you’re only going to practice your artistic tendencies when the sun is out, you won’t get through a lot of work.
A summerhouse makes the perfect art studio. Artists have been using summerhouses for hundreds of years.
For those who paint and those who make their art through pottery or sculptures, a summerhouse studio could be the right choice for you.
The computerised artist
After taking in your early morning run, or for the less energetic, your first coffee of the day, there is a tendency to rush to the computer to check your e-mails, see who has liked you on Facebook today and update your twitter account so the world can know about your artwork.
The advantage of a summerhouse studio is that you can link your property’s Wi-Fi signal to your tablet computer or smart phone. You can give your customers and potential purchasers the opportunity to watch you work via a web cam link or sit in amazement watching you paint from your imagination.
Being able to see who is at your front door from your art studio, via the front doorbell monitor helps you. It means you can continue to work when you want to, and stop if your best friend arrives for a chat and a coffee.
The perfect art studio
One of the great advantages of having your own summerhouse studio is it takes you away from the noise and inconveniences of your home to a place of tranquillity where your mind, your imagination and your ambitions, can run wild. At a moment’s notice you can be back inside your property to deal with the everyday chores or deal with the common tasks of making your lunch and receiving the home visit repair people you want to allow into your property. You can keep yourself at arm’s-length from any door knockers who will only waste your time.
Your summerhouse away from your main property is your great place to work in peace and quiet and if you choose to relax, you won’t be disturbed.
Your art studio is, of course, your workspace. Not only will you be creating your budding masterpiece, you will have a place to show off your work to your customers without them spending time inside your house trying to negotiate active young children.
A summerhouse studio is an artist’s joy in which they can create their work. This means you are able to separate your home life and your work life quite easily. As an artist, you will already know that you won’t necessarily be understood by your friends and family. They won’t appreciate the time and effort that goes into thinking about your work and how you are prepared to end a piece of work halfway through after hours of torment, especially if it doesn’t reach the high standard you require.
If you make sure your summer house contains a few extras such as comfortable seating and electricity so you can play your perfect background music, you may just have found your paradise.
Pomegranate Bonsai
When it comes to bonsai, there are many different varieties to choose from to suit the needs and desires of the gardener. Some people look for bonsais that easy to train, others look for those that are most traditionally structured. Still others desire a bonsai tree that will be both decorative and relaxing in their yard. If this is the wishes you have for your bonsai tree, look no further than the pomegranate bonsai.
The pomegranate bonsai is a fragrant, awesomely flowering bonsai tree that is highly decorative in any person’s yard. Native to Iran but trained as a bonsai initially by the Japanese, the pomegranate bonsai produces beautiful orange, yellow, or red blossoms and small reddish (but not edible fruits). This beautiful bonsai resembles the fruit tree of which is originated, and is a fragrant addition to any bonsai garden. The pomegranate bonsai is lush all through the spring and summer, peaking in beauty in high summer and fading in fall and winter, just as normal fruit-bearing plants do.
The pomegranate bonsai prefers a mild or moderate climate to grow in, and can be grown from seed, but with patience. This plant is not quick growing, but very rewarding. Since it prefers a mild climate, it is easier to grow in western coastal areas and areas with some humidity. Most bonsais prefer heat and sun and don’t like to be overwatered, but this is less of a concern for the pomegranate bonsai as a whole. While it won’t grow entirely all too fast, it does make a great beginner bonsai as it is wonderfully decorative and doesn’t pose the danger of rotting roots due to overwatering that most other bonsais do.
As natural fruit-bearing trees, another benefit to growing pomegranate bonsai is that pruning isn’t difficult. The trunk structure is heavily supported naturally and the tree naturally branches out higher up than other bonsais do, making this heavy and sturdy bonsai plant easier to care for. Pruning and shaping takes place in the upper leaves to achieve a bonsai design. Unlike other bonsai plants, the pomegranate does not need to be trained from the trunk up. It trains in its foliage mainly. Cutting simple inner branches to make the structure more like a traditional bonsai tree is mainly what is needed for a pomegranate bonsai in regards to pruning.
The pomegranate bonsai makes for a great bonsai tree as it contains all the beauty of a decorative bonsai without the tremendous effort most bonsai trees demand. Cultivated strictly for its calming beauty, the pomegranate bonsai is easy to grow and maintain and can be enjoyed in most seasons of the year. This plant can be brought indoors in winter to allow it to retain its pretty decorative structure, and enjoys full sun whenever it is available. This bonsai is perfect for areas that don’t get a lot of natural sun and have more than average moisture content, as the pomegranate bonsai is most likely to thrive in these areas than other bonsai varieties.
